Portrait of a mature woman.
Inv. No. L.1993.86.
New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met describes this marble Roman portrait as an “elderly” woman; the folds of skin depicted do indicate that this is an image of an older, aristocratic female. The portrait is dated to the Trajanic period, specifically to the second decade of the second century CE/A.D. (ca. 110-120). On loan: inv. L.1993.86 (Metropolitan Museum of Art).
