Description:
Remains of aqueduct Aqua Marcia built in 144-140 B.C.
In 125 B.C. water conduit (specus) of Aqua Tepula , and in 33 B.C water conduit of Aqua Iulia were layed atop of Aqua Marcia.
In 1585 ruined structures of the ancient aqueduct were used by papal architect Domenico Fontana as a base for a new aqueduct Aqua Felice (its conduit entering Aqua Marcia is seen in the very right part of the picture).
