Sarcophagus of Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio Hispanus

Aniene tufa.

Rome, Tomb of the Scipios

Description:
Gallery 1112.

Three slabs of the frontal wall of the sarcophagus of Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio Hispanus (H). Parts of the slabs that bear inscription (56 × 74 cm each) were changed for copies (originals are in the Vatican Museums); unepigraphic stone parts in situ are authentic.

The designation corresponds to the plan of the Tomb of the Scipios and genealogical tree of the Scipios.
