The ancient historical traditional interpretation of the attempt of Catilinarian plotters liberation

Of all the available material related to the matter, Cicero never mentions the liberation attempt in his works, while Sallust in his narration brings together the two traditional versions  those originated before and after Ciceros exile. The latter was formed by the rumours about the cruel treatment of the arrested persons and about the danger of their liberation. Plutarch considered these two versions, too. Appians narration about the conspiracy of Catilina is abundant in rough mistakes and cant be regarded as a reliable source of the liberation attempt.
