Torso of an ephebe.
Fine-grained marble (Italy?). Roman period.
Height 64 cm.
Height 64 cm.
Inv. No. A870.
Saint Petersburg, State Hermitage Museum
(Санкт-Петербург, Государственный Эрмитаж).
Origin:
Unknown.
Description:
The torso of an ephebe with his weight on the right leg, the left leg being placed slightly behind. The right arm was raised, probably to head height, and the left hand rested on the left hip. The torso shows a certain twisting of the pelvis, but the modelling of the musculature is not very vigorous. Primarily decorative work but quite fine.
