Female bust with a branch.
Agate-onyx.
1st century BCE — 1st century CE.
1st century BCE — 1st century CE.
Inv. No. 26775.
Naples, National Archaeological Museum
(Napoli, Museo archeologico nazionale).
Origin:
From Stabiae.
Description:
This somewhat cold, but skilfully executed figure is probably an Aphrodite, as the myrtle in her hand and her slightly sensual attitude seem to indicate. Comparisons with other sculptures date it to the Julio-Claudian period.
