Purchased in 1887 in Rome.
Description:

99. Roman

When this young Roman was purchased in 1887, it came with the designation “Caligula”. Since that time, it has been identified as Licinius Crassus Scribonianus. But there is nothing substantial about either of these designations. The subject of the portrait thus remains anonymous. Original: Neronian era.

The tip of the nose, certain parts of the ears and the chin have all broken off. Portions of the bust are missing.

Purchased in 1887 from the art market (Pennelli) in Rome, through the mediation of Helbig.
