Description:
Along the long axis of the room there appears to have been a line of peacocks that formed the focal point of the composition. Nothing survives of the bird that presumably occupied the western side of the panel. In the centre there is a badly damaged peacock depicted in profile its tail sweeping behind. On the east, opposite the entrance, there is another, splendid peacock shown frontally with its fully spread train held open by a winged Eros.
