Origin:
Portrait from Venice which came from the Palazzo Giustiniani-Recanati. Around 1600 it belonged to Federico Contarini, who was procurator in San Marco.
Description:
This fragmentary statue is an independent Caesar portrait type made in the early Julio-Claudian period. It is of Greek marble and was probably made in Greece.
