Gaius Julius Caesar.
Fake.
Private collection, Geneva.
Origin:
In 1965 appeared on the art market in Munich, was bought by a Swiss private collector and now in in Geneva.
Description:
It is a life-sized and almost completely preserved. Although it would appear to be of the same quality as Chiaramonti 107, it is a fake. Unfortunately it copies even the modern parts of the Chiaramonti portrait: the nose, neck, chin, and mouth.
Literature:
Apollo (September 1965), p. xiv.
