Aqueduct of Claudius (Aqua Claudia).

Description:
Double concrete arches with brick facing reinforcing from inside the stone arches of aqua Claudia, built in the course of repair works in Hadrianic period.
Core material — pozzolan concrete (opus caementicum), facing— baked bricks (opus latericium).
Arches of 38-52 A.D. made of peperino and tufa were demolished and stone blocks were used in construction of the new aqueduct (Aqua Felice) in 1585 A.D.
