76. Roman Lady
In both facial form and hairstyle, this portrait has many points of close similarity with Agrippina Minor — but no such identification can be ascertained.Original: Claudian era.
I.N. 754.
Bust.
Marble. H. 0.36.
From the posterior portion of the portrait, a cylinder (measuring 6.0 x 12.3 cm.) has been drilled out. In the last century, a restorer used 2.5 cm. from this very piece for the fabrication of a new nose and a new upper lip. Acquired in 1891, through the mediation of Helbig. The portrait was presumably found within The Licinian Tomb.
