Minerva.
Greek marble. 1st cent. CE.
Inv. No. MR 2.
Brescia, Santa Giulia Civic Museum.
Origin:
Found on the slope of the Cidneo hill in 1828.
Description:
The head lacks the helmet, one of the atributes of the goddes, which would have covered the unworked part. The piece is a Roman copy of a Greek original in bronze, perhaps by Phidias (5th cent. B.C.) and could have been a part of the cult statue worshipped in one of the cellae of the Capitolium.
