Frieze.

Proconnesus or Hymettius marble. 2nd—3rd centuries CE.
Inv. No. MR 10719.

Brescia, Santa Giulia Civic Museum.

Origin:
The manuscript datable to 1798 asserts that “a friese with animals in 3 pieces” was in use as a reliquary in Santa Maria in Solario. This would seem to be confirmed by the 2 oval holes in the largest fragment and would indicate that it was indeed intended for that purpose.
