Origin:
Found at Bovillae on the Via Appia (ca. 20 km from Rome). Acquired by BM in 1819.
Description:
Marble relief: the Apotheosis of Homer with Zeus, Apollo and the Muses. The poet is crowned by Time and the World, and acclaimed by other personifications. It is signed by the sculptor Archelaos of Priene.
