Origin:
April, 6, 1895, Boscoreale, excavations of Villa Pisanella (Sig. Vincenzo di Prisco). The treasure was immediately acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild who donated it to the Louvre. Prof. T. Mommsen called the manner in which the treasure reached the Louvre “somewhat obscure” but confirmed it’s authenticity.
