The portrait bears the jewelled golden diadem, a sign of dignity for the emperor that came into being along with Constantine the Great’s twentieth anniversary in 325/26.

Fragment of head. White marble with yellowish brown patina.
H. 0.30 m.
The nose has been struck off, the right cheek is damaged. A large piece of the diadem is missing, as well the left cheek, the lower part of the face and a large section of the back of the head.
Acquired 1895 in Rome, through the mediation of Helbig. Possibly identical with Matz-Duhn, Antike Bildwerke in Rom I (1881) no. 1933.
