Acquired by Alberici in Rome in 1890 through the mediation of Helbig.
Description:
Dopo che Vagn Poulsen ha ribadito l’identificazione compiuta nel 1910 (Reinach IV, 361, 3), questo ritratto dovrebbe occupare un posto chiave nella documentazione sull’immagine di Cesare. Secondo Vagn Poulsen solo la pettinatura differenzia il torso della Glyptotek dal ritratto al Museo Chiaramonti. Sulla nuca i capelli si avvicinano pero molto al ritratto di Chiaramonti e tale particolarita potrebbe essere considerata come una riproduzione del periodo traianeo dal ritratto di Chiaramonti. Dovrebbe quindi essere possibile poter stabilire la posizione originaria del ritratto di Chiaramonti. Le immagini venivano pero usate liberamente per diversi tipi di statue e non si puo quindi affermare con assoluta sicurezza che il modello di Chiaramonti 107 sia stato preso da una statua celebrativa.
