Origin:
Possibly from Greece. According to Venetian tradition, the Eros was either found by Enrico Dandolo in Constantinople or purchased by Giovanni Soranzo in 1312 on an Aegean island. Acquired by S. A. Gedeonov (Archaeological Comission) from Palazzo Soranzo in Venice in 1851.
